Cllr Rags Sandhu: Why Listening to Residents in Bexleyheath and Crayford Matters

As your elected councillor, I strongly believe that the foundation of effective local government is built on listening—and acting—on what matters most to residents. That’s why I prioritise regular engagement with communities in both Bexleyheath and Crayford.

From street walkabouts and community forums to one-to-one conversations, these interactions allow me to hear directly from residents about the challenges they face and the improvements they want to see. Whether it’s road safety in Crayford, fly-tipping hotspots in Bexleyheath, or concerns about antisocial behaviour across the borough of Bexley, I value every conversation as a chance to represent your voice more effectively.

It’s not just about listening—it’s about acting. I work closely with officers across all departments at Bexley Council, local police, and neighbourhood teams to ensure that the issues you raise are followed up with action wherever possible.

I also use these meetings to share helpful information, such as details about the police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) meetings, where you can raise crime or safety concerns directly with local officers. Staying informed and involved is key to building safer, stronger communities.

If we want our neighbourhoods to thrive, it’s vital that residents feel heard, respected, and included in local decision-making. That’s why I’ll continue to meet you where you are—on your streets, in your shops, and in your community spaces.

When I first stood for election as your councillor back in 2022, I made it very clear that if elected, I’ll not be the councillor who you meet every four years (at election time). I’ll be the councillor who is out amongst residents, talking, listening and working with our residents to Make Bexley Even Better. I like to think that I’m keeping to my promise!

Do you have a particular issue you’d like to bring to my attention?

Please contact me directly, I look forward to hearing from you.
