Food security is something no family should have to worry about, yet the reality is that many within our community depend on food banks to put meals on the table. It's a challenge I take personally, and one that drives much of my community work.
The Albion Road Food Bank
The Albion Road Food Bank has been a lifeline for families across Bexleyheath and the wider Bexley borough. Recently, I was pleased to deliver crates of cereal boxes and other essentials to support their vital work.
Why Food Banks Matter
In times of economic uncertainty, food banks serve as a crucial safety net. They provide immediate relief while also connecting families with longer-term support services. The dedicated volunteers who run these operations deserve our deepest gratitude.
How You Can Help
There are several ways residents can support food bank efforts in Bexleyheath:
- Donate food items — Non-perishable goods such as tinned foods, pasta, rice, cereal, and UHT milk are always needed
- Volunteer your time — Food banks need help with sorting, distributing, and organising
- Spread the word — Many who need help don't know food banks exist in their area
- Financial donations — Cash contributions allow food banks to purchase exactly what's needed
A Community Effort
I believe that looking after one another is what makes Bexleyheath special. When we come together, we can ensure no family in our community goes hungry. If you know someone who might benefit from food bank services, or if you'd like to volunteer, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
