On Saturday 25 July 2026, more than 160 volunteers came together for this year’s Uniformed Services Day in Bexleyheath, taking on the extraordinary challenge of pulling six trucks from Welling to Bexleyheath.
I was proud to be one of the pullers. Harnessed together with fellow volunteers, we took to the road in a brilliant display of teamwork, determination and support for the people who serve our communities.
A Challenge Powered by Teamwork
The route from Welling brought together people from across the borough. Every step took effort, but the encouragement from fellow pullers and local supporters kept the team moving forward.
Pulling six trucks is no small task. It required people to work in rhythm, support one another and keep focused on the shared goal throughout the route.
Supporting Those Who Serve
Uniformed Services Day is an important opportunity to recognise the dedication of the people who protect, support and serve us every day. The truck pull was a fitting way to bring the community together in support of that message.
It was particularly encouraging to see the route through Bexleyheath filled with volunteers, supporters and people cheering the team on.

Events like this show Bexley at its best: people of all ages and backgrounds coming together, backing one another and taking pride in their community.
Thank you to every volunteer who took part, to the organisers who made the day possible, and to everyone who came out to support us. With more than 160 people pulling together, we showed exactly what can be achieved when our community works as one team.
